Band Members

Al Guy - Trumpet

Being part of the Brass section means Al is one of the more shy and retiring members of the band, as all trumpet players are. He also plays Soprano Cornet in a local Brass Band. He spends his days quietly trying to work out the wonders of websites - Purple Creative Services

Favourite Band: Jive Bunny Favourite Musician: Louis Armstrong

Andy Brown - Vocals & Harmonica

Some twenty-odd years ago, Andy sold his soul to the devil in exchange for a blues harp, an SM58 and a six pack. He has been preaching the gospel according to Sonny Boy Williamson and Otis Redding ever since.

Brian Cook - Piano & Hammond Organ

Brian was a 13 year old choirboy and church organist when he discovered 12 bar blues. It was enough to set him on the slippery slope to Rock ‘n Roll, and the following Friday he refused to go to Cubs. Favourite Band: ??? Favourite Musician: ???

Heidi Richardson - Vocals

Heidi fell in love with the microphone and the bright lights of the stage at the tender age of 4, where she scooped first prize in a North West talent competition. She's been singing and dancing ever since, up and down the country, (in the shower, bath, wherever the mood takes her!) and enjoyed a spell in Cyprus where she worked with the boys in uniform in a dance band for 2 years! She's been with ASM for 6 years and feels privileged to be a part of the ASM family. 'Those boys are like my brothers and I love them all to bits'. And being the only girlie is pretty special!! May the fab Soul party last forever!!

Favourite Band: Dire Straits Favourite Musician: Bryan Adams

Nigel Bainbridge - Drums & Percussion

Uniquely privileged in that he's the only member of the band allowed to sit down, Nige is left handed. Whilst he has a degree in Zoology amazingly has never worked in a Zoo! He's got more drum kits than you can shake a stick at (unless it's a very large stick that can comfortably be shaken at more than five). He puts his general good humour down to the fact that most of the time he can't really hear what people are saying about him. His favourite raw fish/cold rice, seaweed wrapped food is sushi, and somewhere near the bottom of his list of life ambitions is to win the Nobel Surreal WebsiteBiography prize.

Favourite Band: Elastic Favourite Musician: Penn (and Teller)

NigelStockbridge - Guitar

By day Nigel makes and repairs guitars. He also plays in several other bands, including The Buckleye Band, "I can't believe it's not Cream, Eclipse and Buckridge. The rest of the time he sits quietly and does as he's told! -Nigel's Guitar Workshop

Favourite Band: Buckridge Favourite Musician: Frank Zappa

Paul Milsom - Tenor Saxophone

Born in a sleepy hollow on the North East coast, Paul started playing saxophone and other instruments when he was only knee high to a very small herring. He came to Richmond 30 years ago forming the Atlantic Soul Messengers in 1997 and has been blamed ever since!

Favourite Band: Black Lace Favourite Musician: John Coltrane

Pete Levett - Sound Engineer

Peter left home at the tender age of 16 and joined an (about to be) internationally famous blues/rock band as apprentice humper and Rizla splicing technician living on the road in a Transit van with five others. Later he went on to college to do various sound engineering and electrical courses. Four decades later he is still heavily involved with an assortment of musical interests such as collecting left handed guitars (leftyguitars.co.uk), radio work and front of house sound engineering.

Favourite Band: Pink Floyd Favourite Musician: Dave Gilmour

Tony Davison - Bass Guitar

Tony is the best bass player in the band!!!
